Research has demonstrated the effectiveness of psychotherapy and behavior therapy in treating many conditions. In my practice, I treat such conditions as chronic pain, insommnia, weight management, and cognitive changes as well as anxiety and depression.
Generally, I use cognitive-behavioral and behavioral techniques because of the abundance of empirical support for the effectiveness. Other strategies such as educational interventions and family therapy may be used when indicated.
I work closely with physicians and with physical, occupational and speech therapists to coordinate care and promote opmtimal rehabilitation outcomes. Family members are frequently encouraged to participate in the therapy process, I often ask other individuals, such as case managers, teacher and clergy to contribute to the patient's behavioral treatment.
